A fantastic penalty by Paddy Brophy was the telling score as Kildare won the Leinster U21 title tonight, leading to this great shot of Thomas Moolick.
It was another great night in the Cadbury’s Under 21 Football Championship and the Leinster crown was decided in O’Moore Park in Portlaoise.
Kildare and Longford had both claimed some great scalps en route to the final and Kildare were favoured after they destroyed Laois 3-22 to 0-7 in the last round.
It started out that way, and after Brophy rattled home a cracking penalty, they led 1-11 to 0-6 with 36 minutes played. But Longford began an epic fightback, led by Mark Hughes. However, Kildare hung on to win 1-12 to 0-12, with a Tommy Moolick point their only score of the last 25 minutes.
And it is this shot of Moolick that is our GAA picture of the night as he literally jumps for joy after the final whistle. The main pic, of Hugh Mahon and David Hyland, isn't bad either.

In Ulster it was semi-final night and Donegal will play Cavan in the northern decider. Donegal edged past Derry 2-11 to 0-15 while Cavan rolled over Down 1-12 to 0-6.
