Tipperary will hope that video footage from the National League Final against Kilkenny on Sunday will help in their appeal of Lar Corbett’s red card.
By Declan Whooley
The Tipperary forward was sent-off along with JJ Delaney by referee Barry Kelly after a grappling match on the ground. While the Cats defender was seen to make contact with the Thurles man’s helmet, it was unclear from the broadcast footage whether Corbett’s actions merited a dismissal.
Corbett, who was taken to hospital with broken ribs after the game, will hope that video footage behind the City Goal end at Nowlan Park could clear him and ensure his availability for the Championship opener with Limerick. It is thought that the Tipperary County Board are waiting to review the footage before any appeal is lodged.
The Examiner also reports today that regardless of any appeal, the 32 year-old would be an injury doubt for the game against the Treaty men and chairman Sean Nugent has said that he is looking at five to six weeks on the sideline, but did say the player himself is not sure when the injury occurred.
“It may have occurred at that time (of the incident) or some other stage - I don’t think Lar’s too sure himself,” he said.
Anxious times for Eamon O'Shea with time ticking to the Munster encounter.
