The Fermanagh County Board have confirmed that Brian Og Maguire, who played for Peter Canavan’s team this year, was killed in an accident this morning.
Brian Og Maguire, a 24-year-old footballer with the Lisnaskea club, was killed in an industrial accident in the Ballymaconnell Road area of Derrylin, according to the BBC.
Maguire played for the Fermanagh senior team in this year’s championship and he led his club to the All-Ireland Intermediate title last year.
Fermanagh County Board have released a statement saying:
“Fermanagh GAA County Committee, County Senior Football Management Team and players are shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of our County Senior player and teammate Brian Og Maguire due to an accident at his work.
“We extend our sympathy to Brian Og’s parents Brian and Eileen, sisters Roisin and Eimear, his entire family circle and the members of his Club Lisnaskea Emmetts at this most difficult time.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this sad time.”
