We’ve all seen some bad misses on the GAA pitch, but this effort from across the pond in London will take some beating.
By Declan Whooley
The GAA scene is thriving in England with the growing numbers emigrating and while the standard is getting higher and higher, there is still room for the odd shocking miss. Step forward Kieran “Rasher” Bacon.
Eire Og took on Moindearg last Sunday in the McCardle Cup and substitute Rasher was presented with a great chance to grab the headlines and become a super-sub.
With the ball bobbing around in front of goals, Rasher showed his attacking streak by picking up on the loose ball and letting fly from close range with the goal at his mercy.
Unfortunately for Rasher, and to the delight of those watching and filming, his thunderous shot cannoned off the crossbar and the opportunity was spurned.
We’re reliably told that the dodgy choice of music was to drown out some choice comments after the near miss.
Hat-tip to Patrick Reynolds for the video.
