Video: He’s really made it now. Henry Shefflin gets a mention on Fair City

Last night, Henry Shefflin achieved the one thing that had been missing from his sterling career to date… a mention on that institution of Irish television, Fair City.

The residents of Carrigstown are all caught up with a lesbian kissing scandal at the moment, but away from activities in the boudoir, two of the show’s characters found time to discuss the merits of the Ballyhale Shamrocks hurling team, with King Henry himself, TJ Reid and the Fennelly brothers, Michael and Colin, all getting a mention.

The hurling discussion is completely unrelated to any plot line in the show and appears to be merely filling approximately 30 seconds of airtime, but no doubt Henry and company will be delighted with the name check regardless.

After all the Leinster and All-Ireland titles, the All-Star awards and the widespread recognition as one of the greatest hurlers of all time, when he does hang up his boots, he can do so in the knowledge that his career is now complete.

Check out his Fair City claim to fame in the admittedly shaky video above.
