Video: Pat Spillane bumped into Jim McGuinness this week. Here's what happened next
Gaelic Football legends Pat Spillane and Jim McGuinness bumped into each other earlier this week. Sparks didn’t exactly fly, but it was all a bit awkward.
Given what Spillane had to say about Donegal and their style of play last year, McGuinness would have been forgiven for hitting the Kerry legend with a well-timed shoulder, but the Donegal boss is far too much of a gentleman for that and the meeting of two of Gaelic Football’s biggest figures was entirely cordial, if just a little awkward.
Just over a year ago, Spillane sat in the RTE studio and accused Dublin and Donegal of crimes against Gaelic Football for the ‘spectacle’ they delivered in the All-Ireland football semi-final, but in this instance, he couldn’t have been more gushing towards a man who masterminded the success over Spillane’s native county on Sunday.
Although the clip is pretty short, Spillane seems to be overdoing the charm offensive towards McGuinness, who smiles and keeps himself to himself for the most part.
He does appear to mutter something to Spillane towards the end of the video (around 0:32 into the clip), although the noise appears to have been muted as to censor what Jim had to say.
Any idea what it might have been?

In the meantime, check out the exchange between Pat and Jim again in the video above.
