Last week we heard the story of pensioner Paddy Garvey appealing to the High Court to have his case against Meath’s controversial 2010 Leinster final win heard. Today we got the verdict.
The High Court ruled that the 75-year old Louth fan cannot bring a challenge over Joe Sheridan’s controversial last-gasp goal which was allowed to stand in the 2010 Leinster Final.
It cost Louth their first provincial title since 1957 and Mr. Garvey had a case put before the District Court in 2011 that was struck out.
Yesterday his High Court appeal against that decision failed too, meaning that Meath remain the 2010 Leinster champions.
As reported in today’s Irish Independent, Mr Justice Michael Peart based yesterday's ruling on, among other reasons, that he had not made out an arguable case.
The ruling hopefully puts that saga to bed.
