THE fashion item for Donegal fans this summer, business as usual in Meath and some super Tipp/Kilkenny trivia.
Donegal’s must-have fashion item of the summer
By now you must have seen the fantastic Donegal song in tribute to their man on the line, Jim McGuinness. If you haven't click the link now. Now the musical skills of Rory and the Island and Jimmy from Senegal have been turned into t-shirt form.

At the moment we think this shirt is just the brainchild of Martin McKenna, the man who tweeted this to us (@kenna_kilcar) but surely it is a goldmine waiting to happen. With Donegal’s history of clothes manufacturing we fully expect to see the streets of Dublin swamped in these babies for the All-Ireland semi final next week.
Banty gets a Royal send-off
Seamus McEnaney’s tenure in charge of Meath was a bit like Robert Heffernan’s 50k walk in the Olympics on Saturday; tortuous at times and ultimately without success. But now that Banty has slipped on his own walking shoes and left the county, how are things in Meath?
Well, it sounds like business as usual. At a county board meeting on Monday night the appointment of the Under 21 boss for 2013 was delayed and a debate over whether current chair Barney Allen should be involved as he will be gone by next season also erupted.
A date of October 1 has been suggested for the new senior boss to be installed, a long delay considering other counties in the same boat, such as Offaly and Armagh, have already appointed their next bainisteoir.
In other business, it was agreed that a letter will be sent to Banty, thanking him for his service to the county. We’re sure he will treasure it.
Some Tipp top facts
The Tipperary County Board are one of the best in the country at providing us hard pressed hacks with lots of great pre-match info. Scorers, player profiles, head-to-heads, they provide an excellent service.
In their press release ahead of the clash with Kilkenny this weekend we learned that Tipp have played 31 All-Ireland semi-finals, only ever losing in six of them. We also now know that corner-back Michael Cahill has played every minute of Tipp’s six League and three Championship games in 2012 and that the combined score between the three All-Ireland finals between the Premier and the Cats is Kilkenny 5-57, Tipperary 5-56.
We seriously cannot wait for Tipperary-Kilkenny IV.
