Published this morning, the Player of the Year contenders are also named.

No surprises to see the All-Ireland champions lead the way in the nominess, it pretty much happens every year. Kerry top the 45 nominees for the 2014 GAA/GPA All stars with 11.

Losing finalists Donegal didn’t do too bad, with nine nominees while Dublin also have nine.

The battle for places looks to be fierce in every line of the pitch. The full-back line looks particularly tough to call, as does midfield.

In the forwards, Kieran Donaghy gets the nod alongside team-mate James O’Donoghue in the full forward line while Galway’s rising star Shane Walsh gets a nomination in the half forwards.

The Player of the Year will be one of Donegal’s Neil McGee, Dublin’s Diarmuid Connolly and Kerry’s O’Donoghue while the Young Player of the year will either be Galway’s Walsh or one of two Donegal players, Paddy McBrearty and Ryan McHugh.

The winners will be announced on October 15th
