Dazzler O'Sullivan in race for semi-final fitness
If the Kerry attack is to gun down the Mayo defence in the All-Ireland semi-final in less than three weeks time they will need all firepower available to them, but Darran O'Sullivan may not regain fitness in time for the clash.
Overshadowing star forwards Colm Cooper and Kieren Donaghy in last Sunday’s defeat of Limerick at Croker, the Dazzler made his presence felt with a wonder back flick goal before limping off after half an hour.
The Kingdom ran out comfortable victors in the end by 13 points but later had to watch an immense performance from the Connacht champions, a display which will keep all in Jack O’Connor’s camp on their toes.
O’Sullivan’s recovery from the hamstring injury is clearly a race against time but O’Connor said there is still hope he will heal in time for the semi-final on 21 August.
“It jeopardises his place in the semi-final but we’ll work hard on him,” O’Connor told RTE.
“He’s getting cryotherapy treatment so we’ll just see how it settles down.”
