Working too hard will kill you FACT!
Doctors over in the US have found evidence to suggest that working overtime may increase your risk of winding up six feet under earlier than you would have thought.
Are you working late again this evening? If so you might want to listen up because working extra hours could increase your risk of a having a heart attack by a whopping 80 per cent.
It’s not exactly the extra work that’s going to eventually take its toll on you, it’s actually everything else that comes with working extra hours that’s the real killer. The doctors in the States found that common overtime problems such as tiredness, not getting enough exercise, not eating the right meals and even relationship problems increased your risk of having a stroke and even heart attack. Well, exercise makes you tired as well... just sayin'
The research was collated from over 22,000 people as far back as 1958, so it’s not as if they asked the lads in the office to talk sh** around the kettle.
The findings suggested that of the 22,000 who were studied, those who worked more than a normal 40-hour week were 40 to 80 per cent more likely to have had heart disease.
So as you stay back late tonight in order to keep your boss (who’s probably heading off on this fifth holiday this year) happy, just remember about an important thing called your health. If you don’t look after it, no one will.
