The Bioxsine blog Week 3: Slow and steady…

JOE's own hair loss guinea pig, staff writer Oisin Collins, is now into his third week of the Bioxsine hair loss blog, so here's a look at how he's been getting on so far.

I’ve now spent the past three weeks covering my head daily with a thick brown musky substance in the hopes that my fading locks will regenerate into a full-blown lion’s mane. This brown gloop - which is actually a pretty accurate description of the stuff - is called Bioxsine Forte and although I’m pretty sceptical about hair renewal in general, I have to say, so far so good… I think.

After three weeks and what must be about half a bottle of natural Bioxsine Forte shampoo and a quarter bottle of the Bioxsine Forte spray my hair must be getting somewhat thicker.

Here’s why: On three separate occasions over the past week, I’ve been told by friends, ‘Your hair is looking great’ which is something I haven’t heard since I went through my bleach blonde tips phase (more than likely a contributing factor as to why I’m thinning – who knows?).

It’s actually a bit weird hearing other people saying that my hair is looking good. Are they being sincere, or are they just taking the p*ss? At first I wasn’t too sure, but after some covert interrogations I was reassured that it actually is looking pretty good ("better than usual" were the exact words).

Obviously, I’ve been looking at my own head every single day in the hopes that a few new hairs will have sprouted, so it’s not much of a surprise that nothing looks drastically different on top – to me at least. However, it’s clearly a different story for anyone who hasn’t seen you for a few weeks.

I’ve been doing absolutely nothing different to my hair than I usually do. No gel, no wax and no fancy hair-do’s, so basically there’s no other reason for my mates to say that my hair is looking good other than the fact I’m using Bioxsine. Happy days!

Now, as I said, the difference to me is only barely noticeable, so I think I’ll have to start taking head shots to compare them over the next few months. I can see a lot less of my scalp on the front of my head when I’m directly under a light source, so that alone is pretty impressive for only three weeks use. And, in all fairness, it’s a bit of a confidence boost too.

The little bald patch on my crown is still fairly noticeable, but I’m not expecting it to ever be covered in hair again, sadly those days have passed. If the hair around it continues to thicken and makes it a little less noticeable then I’ll be happy.

For now, I’ll stick with the programme for the next couple of months and we’ll see what happens.
