Weight Watchers Diary: Week 10

Tha always tricky second week of January has rolled around. How did our boys cope?

Starting weight: 13 stone 13.5lbs
Current weight: 12 Stone 10 lbs

My journey this week reminds me of that lad who once made wings and had a go at flying. He got too carried away with the whole flying shenanigans and got melted by the sun, well the wings did, he didn’t, I think. Anyways, I didn’t melt thankfully, but I have gained weight.

I flew way too close to sun the last week. That sun being a cocktail of beers and take aways. A far less useful sun than the one that lives in the sky. My point is I put on a pound and a half.

It was a real kick in the balls, but a kick I knew was coming. A kick I most certainly needed.

The past week was quite busy so I had very little time to sit down and plan my meals as I normally would. ProPoints sadly went out the window, as I lost track of what I was eating. I would tell myself all sorts in order to feel better about the absolute sh*te that I was putting in my slightly bigger belly.

I don’t think my soul can take the harrowing disappointment that occurred at the weigh in. I may have put on a pound and a half, but the weight of expectation and disappointment may have broken the scales.

All week, I was surrounded by enablers. In work, I would be greeted by a bearded man with sweets, at home sexy women would force me to eat pizza and when I left the house, my ‘friends’ would kidnap me, put me in a black van and bring me to the pub. I could not escape the nightmare that was the network of enablers, who conspired together to break my soul.

Maybe, they were teaching me a lesson. Or maybe they’re just not very nice. But I think they helped.

The weight gain seems to have focused me and I feel like I’m back on track. I can pinpoint where I went wrong the last week and am now back into tracking my ProPoints and planning what I can eat. There’s a few interesting recipes in the new PRO U magazine which I might have a go at. I’m no Jamie Oliver, so I won’t be ‘Wazzing’ things up, but I’m no Harry Redknapp either, so I should be able to read the instructions.

Well, I leave you this week, somewhat dejected but strong willed. This is just a blip and I shall return next week with positive news and a beaming smile. As long as I remember to track my ProPoints, I’ll be be okay.

Well, what can I say. It must have been the whole buzz from the preceeding week's success that went to my head. Those packets of King Crisps and Galaxy bars at the weekend didn't help at all as this week I suffered the biggest set back to-date.

I can say with my head hanging in shame that I had a weight gain of 2 lbs this week. I think that this was mainly down to losing a bit of control at the weekend. After all my preaching last week I slipped up on my tracking at the weekend. I can honestly say that this was because I was in a holiday humour after loosing my initial 16.5 lbs.

This week it's going to be a different story. Last week I reverted to eating some 'junk food' for snacks instead of the healthy options I had become accustomed to over the last two months. I was snacking on mini chocolate bars instead of going and getting an apple or another piece of fruit. This has been truly knocked on the head and a fresh fruit and veg shop has been done.

I probably didn't get in as much exercise in as I would have liked to but I have now started back training with my soccer club for the first time in four years. This is a big step for me as I feel my fitness level has improved dramatically since losing the weight and since I've started exercising regularly. I have more confidence in myself now and feel I have a lot more energy.

I suppose one hiccup in 10 weeks isn't too bad but I can solemnly say that I do not wish to make a habit of it. It's head down time and back on track. I've got 7lbs left to lose to reach my 14-stone target and with two weeks to do this I am now more determined than ever. I know that in order for me to achieve my goal it will time. I have had a few set backs along the way but it's all about being able to get back in the right frame of mind and sticking to the plan.

I paid the price for thinking that I could get away with eating what I was for the last week, without proper exercise. The scales was the proof of this so I have to work extra hard to achieve this goal. A large batch of ProPoint free soup has been made, so lunches are sorted for the next few days. With proper meal-time planning and exercis,e my target is not that far away at all.
