Disney's big-budget extravaganza John Carter has been tipped as the biggest movie of spring ... and we've got ten pairs of tickets for the Irish premiere on March 8.

From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton (the man behind Pixar classics Finding Nemo and WALL-E), John Carter is a sweeping action adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (known to the human race as Mars).

Based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars, where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins).

In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. The film goes on general release in Ireland on March 9, with the Irish premiere of John Carter taking place at the Savoy Cinema the night before (March 8, at 7.30pm).
