The Ariel Atom is unusual because it has an exoskeleton (the chassis is prominently visible from the outside) and therefore lacks a roof, windows and other features normally found on road cars. This makes the car extremely light and allows it to accelerate extremely quickly. The manufacturer claims that the car can reach 0-60mph in a mere 2.8 seconds. The lack of, well, everything makes the Ariel Atom certainly not for the faint hearted.
