Freak racehorse Black Caviar won again on Friday night

18/02/2012 9:59 am

Black Caviar, the horse that has captured the attention of the racing world during an incredible sequence of victories, claimed yet another win on Friday night.

The five-year-old took her winning streak to 19 consecutive races in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes at Flemington Park.

Trainer Peter Moody’s charge has now equalled the Australasian record held jointly by Desert Gold and Gloaming, each of which were set between 1915 and 1921.

She was given a bit of a race last night before extending away from Hay List for the victory, which took her career prize-money past the $5m mark.

Her bid to set a new record of 20 straight wins is now unlikely to see her race next weekend, as had been originally planned, with Black Caviar’s next run likely to take place in Dubai.
