Fancy some free racing? The Tote Go Racing Club is your only man

10/02/2012 6:56 am

You're Irish, so you like free stuff, right? Well the Tote Go Racing Club has announced three free admission race days on weekend meetings during February and March.

There is free admission for all club members to Naas this Saturday, with the highlight being the BBA Ireland Ltd Opera Hat Novice Steeplechase, where Blackstairmountain – our perhaps over-eager Arkle ante-post fancy – Bog Warrior and Donnas Palm are among the possible contenders.

The first of seven races is off there at 1.20pm. Normal admission is €15, but if you’re a clever-clogs Tote Go Racing Club member, you’ll saunter in for nothing.

There’s another big day of free racing in three weeks’ time at Leopardstown, where the Carrickmines Handicap Chase is the feature.

Fans of the Flat game generally enjoy the peak of the National Hunt season too, as it always coincides with the beginning of the summer season, and the first day of the Flat campaign, at the Curragh on Sunday March 25th, also falls under the Tote Go Racing Club free admission banner.

So there must be a catch, right? Half a dozen thorny hoops you have to jump through in order to avail of these offers?

Well, no. None.

The only stipulation is that you must be a Tote account holder. If you’re an account holder and you bet just €10 during the year with your Tote Go Racing Club or Tote account card, then you’re entitled to free admission. And what’s more, from now until the end of March, if you bet €10, you get that €10 back - that's a no-brainer, right? (Terms and conditions are here, incidentally.)

It’s not just the occasional meeting, either. Last year Tote Go Racing Club members had 34 free race days (that was worth €565 in admission money).

And on top of that they received more than €100 in betting credits, and were entitled to six exclusive visits to the yards of some of the top trainers around Ireland.
