Fry in, Lie in, the Denny guide to the perfect Sunday morning

Sunday is the day that we all need to just sit down and recover for a few hours in the morning and there's no better way to do that than with a fry up and a lie in.

JOE

Sunday is the day that we all need to just sit down and recover for a few hours in the morning and there’s no better way to do that than with a fry up and a lie in.

Sunday is all about relaxing, putting the feet up, reading the paper, and eating a massive fry up. We’ve already debated what should go in the fry up, and without wanting to force the issue, we simply must insist that you have some fried bread, or at least a potato farl.

Go the full hog; sure it’s Sunday, why not?

But remember not to rush it, as the song goes, it’s “easy like Sunday morning”, not “hurry up and get everything done on Sunday morning”. That song wasn’t nearly as big a hit, although we hear it reached number 43 in the charts in Germany.

Anyway, get the sausages on, the bacon frying, the egg poaching/scrambling/frying, and slap on the TV to catch some highlights of the European U21 Championships on Sky Sports 2. Both semi-final match-ups will be covered from 10am-12pm, and your daily dose of football for the day is sorted.

Spain take on Norway and Italy take on the Netherlands, and with Isco, Thiago and Iker Muniain in flying form, we expect Norway won’t have much of a chance. That said, the Scandinavians have surprised a few people in this tournament already, so you never know.

Alternatively, you can flick over to TG4, where you’ll have another chance to catch the Irish team on their North American tour as they take on Canada. The game takes place on Saturday night, but you might be out having the craic, so settle down with the grub and a cuppa to catch the replay and see how Ian Madigan’s hair is looking. Great, we’re sure.

If the TV doesn’t float your boat, then grab the papers (flick on the tablet and read what the big news is on JOE too, of course) and take it very handy. Pipe and slippers are optional, but they do complete the look of man of leisure.

If you fancy getting out and about after you’ve let the fry settle, then we can’t say that the weather forecast looks too promising. It’s going to be warm and muggy, but it looks like rain too, so throw a poncho on. Or at least do if you want to look stylish; your choice.

No harm in getting out for a cycle or a jog, seeing as you will have been fuelled by a solid breakfast, or you can get out ahead of time, get the work in and then enjoy the fry as a reward, you can’t say fairer than that.

All together, that sounds like a pretty great Sunday morning to us, but you better make sure that you have all the gear for the fry up ready to roll on Sunday, so don’t forget to add Denny to your shopping basket on the Saturday.

Sausages, bacon and pudding will all need to be in there for the full Irish, anything less would be unpatriotic!

Denny have everything you need for the perfect fry-up! Check them out on Facebook and on Twitter.
