Alan Bennett is a retired mechanic who spent £5,000 in turning a Daewoo Matiz that failed the MoT (the equivalent of the NCT) into a replica of the Batmobile for his grandson Alfie.

Bennett included all the great features of the old school car, with the bubble windows, the rocket exhaust and the wings on the back to give it the complete look, as well as adding the ‘BAT 1’ licence plate.

The interior also has a few nice touches, including an iconic red phone and a few Batman logos to give that air of authenticity.

Obviously, the car doesn’t work, Alfie is only 7 years-old after all, so it wouldn’t be too safe to have him flying around the place in it, even if he is Batman.

Although the sentiment behind this is truly lovely, we really don’t think that Alan will be able to shift this at auction for the same price as the original one from the show, which sold for $4.6 million recently.

Hat-tip to the lads at BuzzPatrol for the pictures.
