A nice idea, but will it take root? Say hello to plantable beer-mats
Molson Canadian beer, part of the Molson Coors Beer Company group, has come up with a novel marketing tool which should appeal to environmentally-conscious drinkers.
Molson is selling coasters, or beer-mats to you and me, to Canadian customers which contain a special ingredient – Black Spruce seeds.
So theoretically at least, you can use your beer-mat to catch any rogue beer droplets and then, instead of allowing you fidgety fingers to rip it in half and quarters and eighths and pile it up on the counter for the cleaners to look after, you can bring it home, plant it in your garden and give it a bit of a soak.
If you ever get one of these into your garden, though, make sure to leave a bit of room – Black Spruce trees can grow to about 50 feet in height.
