Boyfriend attacks partner with brown sauce over her Fifty Shades of Grey obsession
An angry boyfriend has appeared in a court after squirting his partner of five years in the face with brown sauce over her obsession with the Fifty Shades of Grey erotic novel.
31-year-old Raymond Hodgson decided to get saucy with his method of revenge for his girlfriend’s fascination with the saucy novel and pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault.
Appearing at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, Mr Hodgson said that on June 25 he and his long-term partner Emma McCormick had a row over the EL James bestseller – the fastest selling book of 2012.
The row escalated after McCormick began reading extracts from the book aloud to rile her boyfriend, who proceeded by slapping his girlfriend and squirting her with a bottle of brown sauce.
“Mr Hodgson thought that the book was pornographic, and that she should not read such literature,” said prosecutor Adrienne Harris.
“The argument continued into the following day, with the two exchanging text messages. He went to her home at 7pm on June 26 and took with him a bottle of brown sauce.
“She answered the door and the argument continued. She went to close the door and he jammed his foot into the door, slapped her once in the face, and then squirted her with this bottle of sauce.”
Mr Hodgson has been ordered to pass £100 compensation and £85 towards prosecution costs. In his defence, Hodgson said that he apparently used the brown sauce to show his now ex-girlfriend “what saucy really meant”.
