A Spanish town that was painted completely blue as a publicity stunt for the absolutely terrible Smurfs movie will vote on whether to keep their new look, after experiencing a tourism boom.
Six months ago, the small Andaulucian town of Juzcar was selected by Sony Pictures for the most bizarre reason - with the permission of its mayor and citizens, the entire facade of the town was painted blue, while the world premiere of the CGI film also took place in the town.
Though Sony bosses had promised to repaint Juzcar once the screening is over, the villagers became fond of the blue makeover, as did tourists that saw the original story. Six months later, the town says that it has experienced 80,000 tourist visits since.
"We want the residents to decide the future of the town," said 'Papa Smurf' Mayor David Fernandez ahead of tomorrow's vote on whether or not to remain blue.
"There are lots of benefits being had from being blue. It has boosted out local economy, our happiness, our dreams, our work and our employment prospects, and we are also known across the whole of the world." Take a gawk at the new-look Juzcar in the above clip.
