Hola! Five of Mexico’s Best Beaches

No.1 - Playa del Norte, Isla Mujeres Not just one of the best beaches in Mexico, Playa del Norte is widely considered to be one of the best beaches in the world... by people who have been to lots and lots of beaches. Regular ferries link the beautiful island to the mainland and the place even has a sea turtle farm, something we’re pretty sure you wouldn’t get here at home.   No. 2 – Playa la Ropa, Zihuatanejo What do you mean we’re throwing this in just because Zihuatanejo was in the Shawshank Redemption, one of the greatest films of all time? Playa la Ropa also happens to be an incredible beach in its own right and is considered one of the best beaches in Mexico for swimming due to the gentle waves in the bay. Look at the water, it’s waving!   No. 3 – Akumal Beach One of the smaller beaches in Mexico with a population of less than 1500 people, Akumal is also one of the most beautiful bays the country has to offer. You know you’re on to a winner when the town was founded by a community of scuba divers for the simple reason that the beach and surrounding waters were so spectacular.   No. 4 – Playa del Amor, Cabo San Lucas Just because it’s known as Lover’s Beach does not mean that you’re going to get lucky if you go there so give over.  Reachable only by boat from the city of Cabo, Playa del Amor is a romantic hidden hideaway snuggled between the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes. The city by the beach is also famous as Rolling stone Keith Richards got married there in 1983 and, more importantly, Season 9 of Bad Girls Club was also filmed on location there. We’re not really sure what that is but it sounds incredible.   No. 5 – Balandra, La Paz Regarded by The Guardian as “the perfect beach,” Balandra was thankfully spared from the greedy clutches of the developers when a group of Mexican locals organised a petition to ensure that the beach would become a Natural Protected Area.
