JOE’s guide to surviving on a budget: Alternative Valentine’s tips
You may have seen our Valentine’s Budget Advice that we had up earlier on; well here’s some alternative advice to surviving the big day on a budget.
Enjoy the single life
Want to save money? Then you’d want to be single. But what if you’re already single? Instead of lamenting the fact that you’re not sharing this ‘special day’ with someone of the fairer sex, you should be delighted that you’ll be saving buckets of money by not splashing out on a dinner for two, two tickets to a movie and all the flowers and chocolates that usually go with the day.
Don’t waste the day in front of a screen…
If you’re not with anyone or Valentine’s Day just isn’t your thing then you might find yourself wasting the day away by staying glued to the computer monitor or TV screen. While this might waste the hours, it’s also going to waste energy (and money).
Instead, why not go to the gym or head out for a jog with the missus, or on your own if you’re single. You never know, you might bump into a gorgeous female on your travels who’s looking for a bit of company for the night… giggity. If not, at least you’ll get some exercise in.
Finish off the manly chores, together
If there are some chores around the house that are in dire need of doing, like putting up a bookshelf or painting a room, then why not tackle them as a team. You’ll have good craic with your other half and all that hot and sweaty work might even lead to some extra circular activities (i.e. sex). You never know, the workman’s belt might even turn your missus on… and there’s only one way to find out.
At least you’ll spend some time together, save some money and get some help with whatever it is you’ve been putting off for so long.
