Pic of the Day: One African lizard is clearly a huge Spider-Man fan

As we're sure you're aware, Spider-Man swings back into cinemas this week to fight an enemy named the Lizard. As it turns out, he has a lizard lookalike too.

Meet Africa's Mwanza Flat Headed Agama - a species that is not only a dead ringer for Marvel's biggest superhero but also one that knows exactly how to pose just like Peter Parker's alter-ego. Take a look below:

Here's the Spidey lizard...

As Rich Nunn of Nostalgia and Comics in Birmingham explained to the Daily Mail, the lizard is clearly a giant Spidey fan or this is all just an enormous coincidence.

"This is the only animal I have ever seen with colouring so unbelievably similar," he said.

"It's especially like Spiderman in the chest, arms and legs. His colourings are extremely bright making him look like he's dressed in a suit - crawling around on the rock."

And here's the superhero himself

The real question, however, is just how many Mwanza Flat Headed Agamas are out there - is there just one and this happens to be the super-powered alter-ego of a regular lizard? Our Spidey senses are tingling at the thought...
