Another day, another miraculous livestock-related story – an English woman has told of how a psychic sheep called Alfie discovered she was suffering from cancer.

Farmer Emma Turner was attempting to give five-year-old Alfie his medication when he suddenly started butting her in the chest for no particular reason.

The normally well-behaved Cotswold persisted with his deranged attack and eventually had to be restrained by three people.

However, it soon emerged that Alfie wasn’t butting Turner out of malice - he was butting her out of love.

When she went to the doctor to get the bruising the extrasensory animal had left checked out, they discovered she had a lump on her breast in the same spot Alfie had targeted. Spooky.

Further tests revealed that the 41-year-old was in the early stages of breast cancer.

“The doctors and nurses said that if Alfie hadn’t done what he did, when he did it, I wouldn’t have found the lump for a few years, by which time it would have spread,” said Turner.

“Everyone at the hospital is convinced that Alfie saved my life,” she added, sounding increasingly unhinged.

After six cycles of chemotherapy carried out over the course of four months, Turner, who works on a farm in Wooton Bassett in Wiltshire, is preparing for a mastectomy to have the tumour removed.

Strange as the whole episode sounds, Turner believes there is a perfectly rational explanation for what happened – she saved Alfie’s life when his mother died during birth and he simply wanted to return the favour. By butting her repeatedly.

Anyway, Turner has since set up a Facebook page for the psychic sheep, and hundreds have clicked the like button.

“Alfie is normally really well behaved but that particular day he went nuts and it took three of us to hold him down,” continued Turner.

“A lot of people think what he did was deliberate. It’s very odd because he has never done it since.”

He better not start predicting football results.
