Video: Even by Japanese standards, this ad is incredibly bizarre

09/01/2013 12:38 pm

Some incredibly bizarre and surreal adverts have come out of Japan in recent years, but we reckon this one featuring an extraterrestrial dog and a goalkeeper (you heard us) takes the biscuit.

Lionel Messi advertising face wash, Tiger Woods flogging pain relief cream and a goalkeeping toilet commercial have set the bar high as far as strange Japanese ads are concerned, but we’ve stumbled upon a commercial that sees what they have to offer and raises it another few notches on the mental scale.

The advert in the video above is for a Japanese crisp brand who decided to plug their product by telling a tale of a dog teaching a young girl a few tricks of the goalkeeping trade before mysteriously disappearing into a spaceship. As you do.

What connection that tale has to do with the actual crisps is beyond us, but the constant repetition of the brand throughout what is a strangely catchy jingle makes us think that there might be an attempt at subliminal messaging going on here.

Not that it Consome Panchi worked on us, of course.
