McCoy's 180

151. Getting tips from ‘a lad in the yard’
Everyone loves a tip. Irrespective of the end result, and more often than not the horse turns out actually to be a cross between a pig and a donkey, we just can’t resist a bit of inside knowledge.
Never mind actually using our own judgment, we will routinely reserve our biggest bets for the horse we know absolutely nothing about but about which we’ve been told something by someone who says they do. He’s been flying at home, you’ll often hear. He may not fly on the track but that won’t have stopped you making a one-way lodgement into the bookies’ satchel.
