It’s time to remind ourselves that before he became a crap manager, Diego Maradona was a genius, a word you wouldn’t use to describe the cleaning lady who couldn’t work a hoover.

Sporting Pick: Diego Maradona’s wonder goal v England, 1986 World Cup

After yet another attempt at management ended in inglorious failure for Diego Maradona yesterday, there is a danger that football fans of a certain generation will remember him for all the wrong reasons and fail to see why he has built up such an esteemed reputation in the first place.

A quick glance at Maradona’s goal against England in the 1986 World Cup quarter-final will set them right, however, as Diego dancing through and around the English defence before knocking it past Peter Shilton is still one of the greatest goals of all time. He also managed to outpace Peter Reid, no mean feat at all.

Of course, Maradona scored another goal in that game, but nobody remembers that, do they?

Daily Download: The Strypes – ‘You Can’t Judge A Book By The Cover’

You might have heard these Cavan lads on the Late Late Show in the recent past and if this effort is anything to go by, you’ll probably be hearing a lot from them in the future.

Still incredibly young, the Strypes’ sound evokes comparisons with the likes of the Beatles and The Who and if this song, ‘You Can’t Judge a Book By the Cover’, doesn’t get you out of the bed in the morning then nothing will.

Viral Clip: Why isn’t this hoover working?

It’s plugged in, the bag is empty and I have it full it on power, so why isn’t this bloody hoover working, this cleaning lady was probably asking.

It’s because you haven’t attached the nozzle to the hoover itself, you fool. You’d have thought the fella filming the poor woman would have put her out of her misery rather than stand their laughing at her, but actually, it’s better for all of us that he didn’t.
