A new survey from a UK website has shown that men are not bringing enough underwear with them when they travel, and most bring just three pairs on seven-day trips.
The survey, carried out by travel agent www.sunshine.co.uk found that women come far more well prepared, packing on average 10 pairs of underwear for a week-long trip.
The poll, which asked 1,294 people for their views, established that while the men didn’t bring enough underwear, they at least came well prepared with excuses.
Of the men who admitted they did not take enough underwear, 12 per cent said they planned to wash items while on holiday while 37 per cent expected to be wearing swimming trunks most of the time.
The survey also found that male holidaymakers reckoned they wore 98 per cent of the clothing they packed the average woman, estimated they only put on 61 per cent of what they brought away.
The study also found that while 7 per cent of men bought clothing on holiday, 47 per cent of women did.
"Evidently, the packing habits of men and women vary considerably and the majority of men seem to go for the minimal approach,” said Sunshine.co.uk co-founder Chris Brown.
"It is quite stereotypical to suggest that women over-pack, but the fact that the majority only wore around 61 per cent of their suitcase contents just goes to show there might be some truth in the matter."
