More than 1 in 4 best men feel that it’s ‘more of a horror than an honour’

Not everyone wants to give that speech.

Being asked to be best man at a wedding might seem like the ultimate sign of friendship, but it turns out that more than a quarter of men would prefer not to do it. A survey by Tullamore Dew has found that 27% of people asked to be best man at a friend's wedding felt that it was more of 'a horror than an honour,' and that a lot of people are scared s**tless of making a balls of the whole thing. A full 35% of best men admitted to being afraid that they would say the wrong thing, with 15% afraid of losing their speech. There have obviously been some horror stories out there, as 14% of grooms say they would choose a different best man if they could go again and 10% saying that their best man did not adequately perform his duties. • Keep the speech short - ideally six and a half minutes in length

• Leave the bridesmaids alone (until after the speeches at least)
