Eh, come again?

When applying for a job, an applicant often has to display an enthusiasm to go the extra mile and to occasionally go beyond the call of duty, but there’s only so far a man or woman can go. Bar staff, for example, might have to work a little overtime or come in on a weekend when it’s a little busy, but we doubt there would be too many prepared to fulfil the requirement listed on an online advert for a job in Dublin 14. Have a glance at what’s mentioned in the job description below ‘Fluent English essential’ and ‘Friendly and customer focussed’ and see if it doesn’t make you raise an eyebrow. We’re sure it’s a joke, of course, or at least we hope it is because, rather than try and explain what the term ‘hand shandy’ means, we’ll let you see it for yourself. The bar in question is not identified but if you want to apply for the job you can do so here; if we were you, we’d seek crystal clear clarification on the requirements before doing so.
