Homelife

First we had David Attenborough chic, now we have…wait for it…Munsters chic. And by Munsters we mean the hit Sixties television show The Munsters not some kind of new fashion trend hot off the streets of Munster the province.

Yes, feast your eyes on the hideousness that graced the Parisian catwalks on the final day of Paris fashion week.

The ‘designer’ pieces are from Thom Browne’s autumn/winter menswear collection and are his prediction of what men will be stepping out in next autumn when the weather begins to cool. Don’t worry, we’re pretty sure the massive shoulder pads are optional. As is the crazy make up. We think...eh...we're not sure...

So if David Attenborough chic doesn’t appeal to you, then maybe Herman Munster chic is the way you should go. The trend involves sharply tailored suits complete with bursts of colour. Coloured tartan was big news with the designer opting for greys and blacks, and pinks and greens rather than the usual shades.

Football socks will be your new accessory if you choose to rock this trend as will slouchy jumpers. We think the basic word that describes this look is ‘oversized.’ Everything should look like it’s too big for you. Fashion, doesn’t it just make so much sense?

Defending his ridiculous styling, Thom Browne said that he was “very serious” about his clothing. Right. And we’re letting this man set actual trends for people to wear? There’s something seriously wrong in the world when a designer thinks a three-legged suit pant is something people want to associate themselves with. Then again...

But anyway despite his insane creations Browne’s brand, based in New York, has continued to flourish although maybe, just maybe, the Munster trend could be the final nail in his coffin. Like really, would you ever wear any of this stuff?
