This JOE has frequently boasted about the fact that I've never taken a selfie in my life. Seriously, it's proudly stated on my Twitter profile bio.
Loath as I am to seeing these images constantly posted on my timeline, it seems that the selfie is here to stay. 2014 was christened as the year of the selfie (vanity snap as I call it) and it seems that men are twice as fond of taking them than women.
Phone manufacturer HTC conducted a survey amongst 2,000 men and women aged between 18-30 and they found that on average men posted 3 selfies a week as opposed to the 1.6 women photos that women shared.
We presume that 0.6 of a photo are those images where peoples heads are missing or something.
Over a third of men surveyed said that they shared more than five selfies a week and that their main reason for doing so was to make an ex jealous.
Sure, it's nothing to do with perfecting that Blue Steel pose.
It seems that 76% of male selfies are taken of their bodies while this figure is just 45% of the reason why women take them. 20% of these 'body snaps' are of the chest, followed by 17% of the torso or six-pack.
Sure if you spend that much time in the gym then why not show it off? Here was JOE thinking that most of these photos would have been of beautiful landscapes but it seems like we have a few things to learn.
