"She was somebody very important to this country; an international icon for here."
The Late Late Show paid a touching tribute to Dolores O'Riordan on last night's episode.
The celebrated frontwoman of The Cranberriespassed away in London this week, aged 46.
Host Ryan Tubridy paid tribute to the late singer, as he spoke about a few memories of when the pair had met.
He said: "I want to take a minute to remember a great Irish talent that we lost this week. I'm talking about, of course, Dolores O'Riordan."
"She was somebody very important to this country; an international icon for here. A representative of her home county of Limerick."
"She came to visit us here a few times, sometimes on the radio. I always loved seeing her and meeting her."
"I didn't know her particularly well, but she was great fun. A livewire, one of those great guests you see coming through the door with a twinkle in their eye."
"And, like everyone else who heard the news on Tuesday afternoon, I was shocked, we were all shocked, to hear that such a unique voice and a good spirit had been taken from us far too early."
"But not just us, more importantly, from her children and from her family."
Ryan passed on condolences to the musician and mum-of-three's family, friends and bandmates on behalf of those at The Late Late Show.
The tribute concluded with a clip from the Cranberries' famous Late Late Show performance in the early 1990s.
