So you heard about the time Mickey Rourke beat Usain Bolt in a race, right?
If you thought Yohan Blake was the only man to beat Usain Bolt, you obviously haven’t heard this Mickey Rourke story. Yep, that Mickey Rourke. And that Usain Bolt.
There are many reasons to love Mickey Rourke. His time as a professional boxer, his incredible two-part career and his deep love for his pet Chihuahua are just three off the top of our head.
But we have a new one; he claims to have beaten the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, in a race. A running race.
According to Yahoo Sports, The Wrestler star encountered the Jamaican on a booze-fuelled night out and the Hollywood actor came out on top.
"We were outside the Wellington [a private club] in Central London and it was four in the morning," Rourke said. "It was just that time of the night, you know, when anything can happen. So I went up to him and I said, 'Come on, you are the world's fastest man, let's go.' " In fairness, if we stumbled out of a boozer at 4am and saw Usain Bolt we would probably challenge him to a race too.
Anyway, Bolt agreed. "There was a space in the street of about 30 meters," Rourke said. "I got him to back up about four paces, we set off and I got him by a few inches." Either Bolt had a few on board too or Team USA are missing a trick by not having Rourke on their team.
We imagine Rourke has had some fairly wild nights in his 59 years on the planet but the race against Bolt was only half of his sporting tests that night.
"I had been drinking tequila with these guys from the Huddersfield Giants rugby team," Rourke continued. "I was arm wrestling with one of them, he was huge, and that is how I tore my bicep. I should have given in but I didn't want to, you know.
"But at least I won something that night. We were going to go back into the bar again after I raced Usain but they had closed it down for the night. So it was a pretty good way to end up."
We hope it’s true and that Rourke wasn’t just racing some guy who was walking past. The next journalist that gets their hands on Bolt has to ask him about this shock defeat on his CV.
