Video: The Olympic Steeplechase is too much for this guy

One of the most demanding events in Track and Field is the 3000M Steeplechase. It proved too much for this athlete.
The 3000M steeplechase requires its competitors to run 3,000 metres (obviously) in a very, very quick time while also negotiating their way over 28 hurdles and seven water jumps. It’s brutal and for poor old Ethiopian runner Birhan Getahun, it was just too much.
As he approached one of his final obstacles in the morning's heats, the 20-year-old tried to get his tired body over but while the mind was willing, the flesh was weak. After bouncing backwards and down to the track he simply gave up and didn’t finish the race.
Thanks to Johnny Browne for sending us the clip.
