Fancy heading out for a nice relaxing road trip this weekend? Here’s a look at two great places you could head to, whether it’s with the family, or on your own.

Sometimes, there’s nothing better than hopping into the car and forgetting all of life’s woes with a nice long and relaxing road trip. So JOE and MSL have teamed up to bring you two ‘Road Trip’ options that will suit all kinds of drivers; from the experienced long trekkers to the restless short stoppers.

Check out the Wicklow Adventure Race – Saturday 26th April

You’re probably looking to take a nice scenic spin around some of Ireland’s most beautiful roads, but you probably want to make a day of it as well (or maybe not). If that’s the case then why not make a packed lunch and head out towards Glendalough this coming Saturday where you can cheer on competitors taking part in WAR: better known as the Wicklow Adventure Race.

After you’ve taken in the sights and sounds of WAR (or instead of taking in the sights and sounds of WAR), you can enjoy the winding roads that surround Lough Bray and the Blessington Lakes. Once you’re on the N81 heading towards Tallaght you’ll only be 20mins away from the M50, with roads leading to all parts of the country. It’s a beautiful drive out around Glendalough and it’s one that we can’t recommend enough.

For a longer spin, head to the Ring of Kerry

Ireland has to be one of the best places in Europe to go for a nice leisurely drive. There are plenty of scenic routes for you to enjoy and better yet, they’re all just a stone’s throw away. That’s why we’re looking at the beautiful Ring of Kerry…

A leisurely drive around the Ring will take you roughly three hours, but that’s only if you don’t take any lunch breaks or if you decide not to stop to see the sights and sounds. In reality, the drive will take you the guts of four to five hours to complete, so it’s really a day out for the whole family and not just a quick spin.

Naturally, the drive is at its most enjoyable during finer weather, but you may be waiting some time for that to happen, so make sure to bring a jacket and umbrella if you’re planning on doing a little bit of walking while you’re there.

That’s it for this week, but make sure to check back next week when we’ll have another two great road trip ideas for you to choose from with thanks to MSL.
