Good news lads, female insurance prices climb as male prices fall
It looks like Irish ladies will have to fork over more cash for their car insurance as new EU rules hoping to stop gender discrimination finally come into play.
We all know one of those women who harp on about how they’re not treated equally to men in the workplace and whatnot.
Well, you can tell that woman that she’s finally being regarded as 'equal to men', when it comes to car insurance, that is.
Instead of paying a fraction of what us male drivers have to pay, female drivers will now have to fork over an extra 25 per cent, according to the Irish Independent.
So this means us male drives will enjoy a significant decrease, right? Wrong. Although female drives will see their premiums rise from between 10 to 25 per cent, male drives will only see reductions of between 3 and 4 per cent.
Why’s that, we hear you ask? Well, according to the Irish Independent (who worded it slightly differently), if there was a massive drop in the price of car insurance for young males, we would see is every ‘chung-fella’ in the country getting insured on his mam’s mini-moto, which would undoubtedly cause major havoc.
At least most of us (men) will see a couple of quid coming off the cost of our annual premiums come December. There’s your early Christmas present from us sorted.
