David Warner was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, moments after he won a destruction derby at the local County Fair.
In a sport designed to cause the most amount of damage possible, some may think it only seems fair to the drivers, spectators and even officials to be wasted off their asses. (We're kidding.)
36-year-old David Warner was competing in the Jessamine County Fair in Kentucky where police and organisers say he was driving ‘suspiciously’ all evening.
Police at the fair said they received a number of complaints about a driver in the destruction derby driving erratically. Yes, they actually received complaints about a bad driver in a destruction derby.
After Warner won the race he got out of his vehicle to receive his prize, only to be met by police who gave him a sobriety test and arrested him for DUI.
“The young man has no future here as far as events. He will not be allowed to participate in any event on these fairgrounds,” Jessamine County Fair board president Jay Bruner said.
Brave Dave had his say too: “I mean, I’m not denying I wasn’t drinking by no means, but I was not drunk. I was under the limit.”
Warner claims he drank a few brewskies before hitting the track, to “loosen me up,” but he said it wasn’t enough to warrant a DUI.
“I’m not perfect, but this has gone too far, and I will fight it,” he said.
