He was never going to get away anyway, but one criminal was left even more red-faced after his embarrassing attempt to evade police was caught on camera.

Having decided that trying to outpace a trailing police car in a high speed chase down a busy expressway near Miami was a fruitless exercise, the perpetrator in the video above decided to get out of the car and make his getaway on foot.

It was never the brightest idea to begin with, but his planned getaway attempt soon ended in hilarious circumstances when he tripped over a fence while trying to make his way into a bunch of trees separating either side of the highway.

It must have been hard for the police officers in question to resist the urge to burst out laughing on seeing the captive’s hilarious and unfortunate belly-flop (about 1:10 into the clip), but the loony in question was eventually apprehended.
