Time to get excited…

BBC One have revealed the titles to the first two episodes of the coming season of Sherlock.

The episodes will be called The Six Thatchers and The Lying Detective.

It seems like a lifetime since we last saw Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman on our screens solving mysteries in London. But now, their return is no longer a a squiggly line in the distance, it’s closing in on us.

The names of the new episodes do give us some clues as to what the latest season may entail for Holmes and Watson with the Six Thatchers surely a play on the Sherlock Holmes story The Six Napoleons, about a criminal destroying busts of Napoleon to find a hidden black pearl.

While the The Lying Detective alludes to the The Dying Detective, a story where Sherlock pretends to be poisoned to catch a murderer named Culverton Smith.
