Aherne’s publicist confirmed the news on Saturday.
Actress and comedian Caroline Aherne has sadly passed away at the age of 52.
The 52-year old had been suffering with throat cancer and was forced to take time off from narrating Gogglebox earlier this year in order to receive treatment.
One of Britain’s leading comedy talents since the 1990s, Aherne will be best remembered for her work on beloved programmes such as The Fast Show, The Royle Family (which she co-created) and The Mrs. Merton Show.

Aherne has also acted as the narrator on Channel 4’s Gogglebox since 2013.
She will be sorely missed.
