Robbie Keane has been voted as LA Galaxy’s Most Valuable Player for 2014

And well deserved too.

Conor Heneghan

And well deserved too.

He got a little bit of grief for his lack of touches against Germany last week (it was hardly all his fault to be fair) but Ireland skipper Robbie Keane has been in fine form of late and he was given due recognition last night when he was voted as LA Galaxy’s Most Valuable Player of 2014.

Keane didn’t manage to score in the Galaxy’s 2-2 draw with the Seattle Sounders last night but he did score 19 goals (ranking third overall) and provided 14 assists (ranking second overall) during the MLS regular season, taking his overall tally to 54 goals and 35 assists in 84 appearances with the Galaxy since moving Stateside in 2011.

The award was determined through a vote from LA Galaxy media members and is a testament to Keane’s enduring ability to hit the back of the net, which he illustrated in stunning fashion on more than one occasion (see here and here) in recent weeks.

Congratulations Robbie.
