Irish actor Michael Fassbender could be heading for Globe Globe glory this weekend with a Best Actor nomination, but here the Kerry native explains his Shame role ahead of Friday's release.
The second collaboration between Fassbender and director and co-writer Steve McQueen after Hunger, in which the actor played Bobby Sands, Shame explores the life of a conflicted thirtysomething Manhattan yuppie who cannot resist his sexual urges.
The role itself causes Fassbender to bare all - quite literally - and expose his vulnerable self in a way that few actors would ever envisage, particularly when they're featured on the cover of GQ and star in big-budget Hollywood blockbusters such as X-Men: First Class and this summer's Alien prequel Prometheus.
With Oscar buzz circling over the Irish actor, we felt it was the perfect time to allow the man himself to explain his nuanced role ahead of Friday's release. Enjoy the clip from Fox Searchlight above.
Shame hits Irish cinemas this weekend but look out for a full review of the film on Friday morning.
