We all need to see more creepy kids that can scare the life out of us…

A few weeks ago, we brought you the first trailer from Irish director Gary Shore’s upcoming blockbuster Dracula Untold.

Much like a person waiting ages for a bus only to see two arrive consecutively, we’re delighted to say that another Irish filmmaker has landed a major Hollywood Film.

Focus Features have announced today that former Dun Laoghaire film school graduate Ciaran Foy will direct Sinister 2, the sequel to the 2012 horror hit.

Foy has already earned a reputation as a talent to watch following his well received claustrophobic Irish horror, Citadel.

The director has also earned awards for his short film, Faeries of Blackheath Woods, which screened at over 40 festivals worldwide and won nine best short awards.

In the first Sinister film, Ethan Hawke played a crime novelist struggling to find his next big story who discovers a box of home videos that show other families being brutally murdered. His investigation soon leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.

Sinister was released in October of 2012 and earned $77.7 million worldwide on a $3 million budget. There are very few modern day horrors that genuinely impress JOE so we definitely recommend checking this one out.

We’re always happy to see an Irish person get a break in their respected fields and we are excited to see what ways he can scare the bejaysus out of us in Sinister 2.
