Is this really Michael Fassbender I see before me?
That fairly obvious nod to Macbeth above (it’s about the only thing JOE can remember from studying it for the Leaving Cert) will be the first and last Shakespeare reference you see here, but you can expect to hear plenty of more them in relation to Michael Fassbender, who will star as the troubled King of Scotland in the latest movie adaptation of the play to be (or not to be… sorry, couldn’t resist) released next year.
Studio Canal, the studio behind the movie – which will be directed by Justin Kurzel and produced by the team who brought you the excellent The King’s Speech – gave movie fans in Cannes a glimpse of what Fassbender’s Macbeth will look like today and we certainly wouldn’t like to cross him down a dark alley that’s for sure.
The lovely Marion Cotillard, who will play Lady Macbeth, doesn’t look too shabby either it must be said…
If Fassbender’s appearance wasn’t enough to stoke Irish interest, as well as the obvious Leaving Cert link, of course, Jack Reynor is also slated for a role in the movie, which will be released at an as yet unknown date in 2015.
