Actor and comedian Robin Williams was found dead in his home in California last night. Williams’ publicist released a statement which read: “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Williams first made his name as a comedian and television actor in the 1970s and while he continued to perform comedic roles throughout his career, he also delivered acclaimed performances in serious roles in films such as Good Morning Vietnam and Good Will Hunting, for which he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 1997.
