This makes us happy. Very, very happy.

If you’re a fan of film then boy do we have the perfect video for you.

Based on the excellent series of film reference books by Steven Jay Schneider, YouTuber Jonathan Keogh has created a simply sublime, superbly soundtracked, excellently-edited, thematically-linked, beautifully-compiled collection of clips of films to see before you die. The montage features absolutely everything that makes cinema great; guns, chases, cowboys, gangs, aliens, femme fatales, dancing, love, hate, heroes, villains, robots, insults, clowns and Monty Python.

Lovely, perfect Monty Python.

Jonathan explains; “Based on Steven Jay Schneider’s incredible book series, this video contains 215 extra titles as well. This epic little monster took me one year to the date to finish. I tried my best to make it an overpowering exercise in film. In another 130 years, this will be a completely different list. It was important to start with a film projector because film itself is becoming/already is a thing of the past.”

There’s no list of film titles provided because, in a way, no list is really needed. Just sit back and enjoy the movie masterclass on display because we cannot emphasise how great this is; we absolutely defy you to watch it without a big goofy smile on your face.

Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the magic of film… and yes, before you ask, of course Showgirls is in there:
