Simon Delaney to star opposite Vince Vaughn in huge comedy

We’re always delighted at JOE when some of our do well abroad. Be it in sports, music, whatever. We’re extra delighted when they happen to be good people, so a hearty congrats to Simon Delaney for the following news.

According to The Irish Independent, Delaney will star opposite Vince Vaughn in the big budget comedy, Starbuck. Delaney said, "I've come close to getting big roles before but finally I've landed something on a scale beyond my wildest dreams.”

The film sees Vaughn play a man who was a sperm donor years previous, and finds out he has hundreds of kids – who all now want to meet him. It also stars Cobie Smothers (of How I Met Your Mother fame) and up-and-coming comedy actor Chris Pratt - who just appeared in Moneyball and Five Year Engagement.

Delaney bagged the role completely by chance it seems, as he was in New York filming Once director John Carney’s new flick, Can A Song Save Your Life. "I had a few days off and just turned up to meet the casting agent. I was amazed when I got a call yesterday to say I had the role. Amazed because I'm playing Vince's brother, a New Yorker who works in the family meat-packing business. There's nothing Irish about any of it."

Delaney is making a name for himself in America, having recently bagged high-profile gigs in The Good Wife and Touch – both huge network shows.
